Should You Hire a Professional Photographer for Your Blog

Should you hire a professional photographer for your blog or business? by Light Hearted Lettering Blog

You may have noticed that there are some pretty new images on the blog. A couple weeks ago I did a professional photo shoot with my photographer friend, Sami Orndorff of Sami Renee Photography. I was a little hesitant about spending money to have pictures taken of me but I knew that I needed better photos so I took the plunge and boy am I glad that I did! Maybe you’ve been wondering, should you hire a professional photographer for your blog or business? So I want to share with you why I think it’s an important step as a blogger or business owner.

As a new blogger and wanna-be business owner, it can be scary to hire someone to take pictures of you, especially if you don’t have a whole lot of money to invest in them. But I truly believe that quality, high-resolution pictures will take your blog or business to the next level.

Emphasis your brand

I absolutely loved Sami’s work and I knew that her photos where exactly the right fit for my brand. I love bright, white and modern and she definitely was able to capture that in my photos. So look for someone who’s previous work is something that you feel fits in with your brand and your style. Having photos that are consistent with your brand will make your blog look more cohesive and put together.

It makes you look more legit

Although professional photos can be a little pricey and seem like a waste of money, I guarantee you it is worth it. Having gorgeous and quality images on your blog or website will show readers or potential customers that you are serious and not just some random person taking pictures on their iPhone trying to be a professional. I’m not saying you can’t get quality photos from an iPhone but having professional images of yourself and your work will really show people that you mean business (no pun intended).

It’s a great way to connect with other creatives

When you are a blogger or small business owner, connections are so important. And if you’re an introvert like me, then it can be hard to get out of your comfort zone and make those connections. But hiring a professional photographer is an automatic way to make a connection with someone else in the creative industry. And chances are that if you promote their work, they will promote yours so it’s a win-win for everybody. Remember, a rising tide lifts all boats.

If you have been thinking about getting professional photos taken for your blog or business, I highly recommend it. I am so glad that Sami reached out to me and gave me the push I needed to invest in my business and myself. If you’re in the Indianapolis area (or beyond, as I know she would love to travel) I definitely suggest hiring Sami, she is so cute and easy going and really made me feel comfortable in front of the camera. Check out here amazing work here.

With love and encouragement,

  3. This is such a great post. I am both a photographer and blogger/webshop owner so I sit on both sides of the fence here. But one day I really need to get another photographer to do some headshots for me.
